The Maulerfiend!

This is the first big addition to the Chaos Warband I am making for Kyle's slow grow league. I am going to play it with the Lasher Tendrils for the minus 2 to my opponents attacks. That seems kinda beefy to me.

I really like the look of this model. It was a pain in the ass to build, but man when I was done I wanted to add another one to the army. It looks so much better in person than any picture could ever show.

I started on a background piece for the army and that is going well. The only thing missing is a name. If anyone has any ideas let me know. They are a Warband of former Iron Warriors along with warriors from a bunch of other chapters mixed in there. No colors in the names! :)

Ebooks!

I just read a couple Flesh Tearers ebooks by Andy Smillie and they were great. Torturer's Thirst and Beneath the Flesh. Both were really good and I can't wait for a proper novel to come from Smillie. The descriptions of battle and how the Flesh Tearers have to deal with the Red Thirst were awesome. I highly recommend these two ebooks just to get a taste of Smillie's awesome writing style.

What to do? What to do?

My army for Kyle's slow grow league has started. Well, actually, it has been built for quite a long time. It has never been painted and I do have some additions I have to add to it. The lists for 500, 750 and 1000 point armies have been made. The additions have started.

First I took my sons Daemon Prince and tore it apart; switching the arms and shoulder pads. Cleaned up the mold lines and cleaned off the basing. Secondly I started tearing apart some regular CSMs that he had built to use as Chosen so I can change them into Havocs. I took two Chaos Spawns off of Rik's hands and built them last night. I dunno... I just like the idea of creepy ass models charging into large groups of models and holding them up for a turn or hopefully two. Giving them the mark of nurgle will help I hope.

I am also going to add in models from other legions and space marine chapters. Like a Fallen Dark Angel, a Blood Angel, a Crimson Fist, an Imperial Fist, a Night Lord and so on. I think it will be kind of neat to do something like that.

The remaining pieces that need to be bought for the 2000pt army are; A bastion, A Maulerfiend and one Helldrake.

While building the army and playing the games comes the fun part. I need to create a back story to my Renegade legion and come up with a wicked name for them. I already have an idea on a paint scheme, just need some back story for it.

My Part is done...

for the most part anyways... I still have to finish the scouts, but I really dont want to. Painting black isnt all that fun. It really is quite a bore. I love my Raven Guard, but I really have to pick a new founding chapter to paint. (Good and bad.)

So here are some picks of what the army looks like now. It has 3 tact squads (5th company), 2 assault squads (8th company), 5 Terminators (1st company), 2 dreadnoughts, lascannon pred, Vindy, Land Raider, Stormtalon and three drop pods. It's a pretty good set of squads that can make more than 2500pts.

Well, more to come. Especially after Rik gets the transfers on them. :)

Hobby ADD!!

So I'm still painting my new Raven Guard and I find myself wanting to paint up some Iron Warriors. lol

First things first... I want to use the Fortress of Redemption. Yeah. That. It seems like something the Iron Warriors would build. It also supplies anti-aircraft and armor.

The two other things I want are.... 1. A Warpsmith. The new model just looks that cool to me and 2. A wicked Daemon Prince as my Warsmith.

So I was looking through what I have and I need the Warpsmith, Daemon Prince, 6 Missle Launchers and the Fortress. Not too bad considering. lol

But first.... I HAVE TO FINISH MY RAVEN GUARD. ;)

Forge World Arrived!

Just got my Korvydae and IA8 book today! I washed him already here at work and will be building him as soon as I get home. He was the only piece missing from my army. Now that I have his rules and the book I am good to go.

The painting is coming along. I have primed everything and have dry brushed all of it. Some are better than others which makes me wonder if I should make them battle worn or fresh to the field. For the first time, I think I am going to go with battle worn. I'm also tossing around what company to do. The easiest is 5th. Black. I'm thinking of going fourth (green), eighth (grey) or second (yellow).

Now a lot of people (players/mouth breathers/ knowitalls) will throw old fluff at me as if it is the only way you can paint your army and still be fluffy. Those kind of people lack imagination and creativity imo. GW gives us a plethora of information to do with what we please and none of us are wrong with what we create. We are just different. Let me know what company you think I should make them.

Anyways.... More later... Hopefully some pictures! :)

More Raven Guard!

Started to hobby again. I originally was going to do a Night Lords army using the Blood Angels codex. I mean, it fits. Was going to use Chapter Master Seth and a bunch of Assault Marines. Woulda kicked some ass in my opinion.

But my first love is Raven Guard. (I know that this blog is named Space Wolves. That was my second legion.) I have a good amount of Raven Guard already and adding to it would be neat. So Rik spouts out that I should use the Imperial Armor 8 special character because I like using assault marines. So thats what I did. I ordered the book, the model and some other stuff.

While waiting for that, I have built five terminators, five scouts, another drop pod, fixed a vindicator and I am almost done with a Stormtalon. Tonight I am going to finish the Stormtalon and move onto the 20 Assault Marines that are in the army. Ten in jump packs and 10 in a drop pod for assaulty goodness. I've had this dire need to put combat shields on my sergeants... Can't wait for that. :)
