My army for Kyle's slow grow league has started. Well, actually, it has been built for quite a long time. It has never been painted and I do have some additions I have to add to it. The lists for 500, 750 and 1000 point armies have been made. The additions have started.
First I took my sons Daemon Prince and tore it apart; switching the arms and shoulder pads. Cleaned up the mold lines and cleaned off the basing. Secondly I started tearing apart some regular CSMs that he had built to use as Chosen so I can change them into Havocs. I took two Chaos Spawns off of Rik's hands and built them last night. I dunno... I just like the idea of creepy ass models charging into large groups of models and holding them up for a turn or hopefully two. Giving them the mark of nurgle will help I hope.
I am also going to add in models from other legions and space marine chapters. Like a Fallen Dark Angel, a Blood Angel, a Crimson Fist, an Imperial Fist, a Night Lord and so on. I think it will be kind of neat to do something like that.
The remaining pieces that need to be bought for the 2000pt army are; A bastion, A Maulerfiend and one Helldrake.
While building the army and playing the games comes the fun part. I need to create a back story to my Renegade legion and come up with a wicked name for them. I already have an idea on a paint scheme, just need some back story for it.
Will be a blog about my Space Marines and games played with friends who also have blogs here. They are tongue in cheek and kinda vulgar, but worth the read I think. :)

My Part is done...
for the most part anyways... I still have to finish the scouts, but I really dont want to. Painting black isnt all that fun. It really is quite a bore. I love my Raven Guard, but I really have to pick a new founding chapter to paint. (Good and bad.)
So here are some picks of what the army looks like now. It has 3 tact squads (5th company), 2 assault squads (8th company), 5 Terminators (1st company), 2 dreadnoughts, lascannon pred, Vindy, Land Raider, Stormtalon and three drop pods. It's a pretty good set of squads that can make more than 2500pts.
Well, more to come. Especially after Rik gets the transfers on them. :)

Hobby ADD!!
So I'm still painting my new Raven Guard and I find myself wanting to paint up some Iron Warriors. lol
First things first... I want to use the Fortress of Redemption. Yeah. That. It seems like something the Iron Warriors would build. It also supplies anti-aircraft and armor.
The two other things I want are.... 1. A Warpsmith. The new model just looks that cool to me and 2. A wicked Daemon Prince as my Warsmith.
So I was looking through what I have and I need the Warpsmith, Daemon Prince, 6 Missle Launchers and the Fortress. Not too bad considering. lol
But first.... I HAVE TO FINISH MY RAVEN GUARD. ;)

Forge World Arrived!
Just got my Korvydae and IA8 book today! I washed him already here at work and will be building him as soon as I get home. He was the only piece missing from my army. Now that I have his rules and the book I am good to go.
The painting is coming along. I have primed everything and have dry brushed all of it. Some are better than others which makes me wonder if I should make them battle worn or fresh to the field. For the first time, I think I am going to go with battle worn. I'm also tossing around what company to do. The easiest is 5th. Black. I'm thinking of going fourth (green), eighth (grey) or second (yellow).
Now a lot of people (players/mouth breathers/ knowitalls) will throw old fluff at me as if it is the only way you can paint your army and still be fluffy. Those kind of people lack imagination and creativity imo. GW gives us a plethora of information to do with what we please and none of us are wrong with what we create. We are just different. Let me know what company you think I should make them.
Anyways.... More later... Hopefully some pictures! :)

More Raven Guard!
Started to hobby again. I originally was going to do a Night Lords army using the Blood Angels codex. I mean, it fits. Was going to use Chapter Master Seth and a bunch of Assault Marines. Woulda kicked some ass in my opinion.
But my first love is Raven Guard. (I know that this blog is named Space Wolves. That was my second legion.) I have a good amount of Raven Guard already and adding to it would be neat. So Rik spouts out that I should use the Imperial Armor 8 special character because I like using assault marines. So thats what I did. I ordered the book, the model and some other stuff.
While waiting for that, I have built five terminators, five scouts, another drop pod, fixed a vindicator and I am almost done with a Stormtalon. Tonight I am going to finish the Stormtalon and move onto the 20 Assault Marines that are in the army. Ten in jump packs and 10 in a drop pod for assaulty goodness. I've had this dire need to put combat shields on my sergeants... Can't wait for that. :)

Fun!
6th Edition was fun. :) Rik and I played a game of 6th edition yesterday, most likely my last game with my Raven Guard army, and we had a blast. The game was a lot of fun. Here are some things about sixth edition that I thought was interesting...
1. Flyers. You have to have one or a reliable way to kill them. So either take terrain to kill them or another flyer of your own. They are very good.
2. Rhinos and transports like them wreck very easily. You have to get them where you want them as fast as possible which is kind of easy as a rhino can move 18 inches in a turn. So you can't just sit back, wait for the end of the game and race to an objective. Your tanks are going to die. It can be more advantageous to footslog your marines in certain situations. I mean, you can have the ability to have some of your unit out of sight so they cant take wounds and other things that make it better to run them across the board. Because that rhino can blow up so easily, the wounds they can take from it are just as bad as being shot at while running. My opinion anyways.
3. Plasma weapons. They are so good now and important. Being AP2, it will be the only real way to get rid of anything in terminator armor. I had a sergeant with a plasma pistol. A plasma cannon and a plasma gun. In the future I would bring more.
4. Premeasuring.... makes the game a bit faster as there is no guessing on shooting.
5. Positioning of models. It is super important to keep some regular troops in front of the important ones. They have to take the wounds first and then you can do a lookout, sir.
6. Close combat works a little differently. You have a pile in move at every initiative step which makes sure you get your attacks in. Your set up in close combat is pretty important as is the removal of models in base to base. For instance, you dont want your powerfist dude to be in base to base and die first, yet you dont want too many inches between him and a model when he attacks.
7. Challenges. They are awesome for keeping your unit from getting wiped out against someone like Dante or Shrike. It will save your unit from losing 2 models from a sergeants power weapons. Having multiple characters in a unit lets you pick who challenges or accepts. It is an awesome addition to the game. My power axe sergeant went up against Dante's power axe... he got destroyed, but he still had a shot at Dante. :)
There is more and I cant wait to play more of 6th edition.... when I get a flyer of course. :) That stormraven flying around the board doing whatever it wanted is too much. :)

6th Edition... Will it reinvigorate my hobby?
I get a dose of 40k everyday living and working with Rik. It's a blessing and a curse. By now I know all the rumors of 6th edition and they all sound awesome. Two more weeks and we get a new game. Awesome.
So for 6th edition, Rik and Kyle are starting new armies. Non-power armor armies. I'm a space marine guy. I love the fluff, the books... pretty much everything space marines. No other army gets me interested in 40k like Space Marines.
So to try and play with these jerks and not play a Space Marine army, I am going to do a Chaos Space Marine army. haha :) I will be waiting for their new codex of course, but that is the army I have chosen to start and play for 6th edition. (Unless the Dark Angels codex comes out first... and it doesnt suck... then Rik and Kyle can suck it.)
I am refinishing my Raven Guard right now. Finishing the guns and basing them. All the other models I have from that army will be extra bits for my next army. Then they will hit the shelf in the glass cabinet. They had a good run in 5th edition. :)
Will give a shot of them once Rik is done with the transfers. :P
